Unfortunately, I have had many negative experiences with psychiatrists out there. Many psychiatrists are looking for the quick fix that is going to change their client’s life. They think putting you on zoloft will change your life and make you happy within 4-6 weeks. WRONG.
- Doctors don’t tell you that it may take time to find the right medication
Many psychiatrists fail to inform their clients that it may take some time to find the right medication/medications for you. They don’t walk you through the process that is understandably scary and incredibly time consuming. Have you ever felt like you were drowning? Now picture a person trying to throw you a life vest but keeps missing you. It could take a long time to find the right medications due to our lack of understanding about how the drugs actually interact.
- Doctors don’t always explain the side effects
Psychiatrists do not always discuss the side effects that can happen when on psychiatric medications. If they do tell you the side effects, they rattle them off and don’t explain them. This is why it is SO important to discuss all that you are experiencing with your doctor. Don’t think any question or concern is too small!
- Doctors don’t tell you one size does not fit all
What works for one person may not work for the next. If one person has a positive experience with a certain medication, that doesn’t mean the next person will react the same way.
If you have ANY questions you should always, always talk to your doctors!
